You see it throughout the IWC all the time. Fans want Dean Ambrose to turn on Roman Reigns and go heel. But is it really that good of an idea? On paper a feud between Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose sounds fun, but what happens to Ambrose after that?

Turning Dean Ambrose heel is a temporary solution to an ongoing problem and it’s probably not going to work out in the long run. Here’s why.

#3 – WWE Needs More Top Faces

When it comes to big time faces in WWE, there aren’t a whole lot of choices for fans to cheer for at the moment. The main good guys in WWE are John Cena and Roman Reigns with guys like Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Ryback in the upper mid-card level. Take Ambrose out of the equation and you’re left with Reigns, Cena, Ziggler, Ryback and an overabundance of heels in the WWE with no one to challenge them.

Turning Dean Ambrose heel would tip the scales in the wrong direction. Fans like Ambrose and they like him even more when he’s actually doing something important. When given the chance to be a main event star, Ambrose has proven he can carry the show on his back as he did around this time last year and over the summer during his feud with Rollins.

WWE has some good heels working within the company right now, but things are a little lighter on the face side of things. The fans need more options when it comes to wrestlers they can cheer for and turning Dean heel eliminates one of those options.

#2 – Dean Ambrose Needs Direction Not A Character Change

Dean Ambrose needs something, but a heel turn probably isn’t it. Besides an awesome program with Seth Rollins at the beginning of the summer, Ambrose has pretty much been playing sidekick to Roman Reigns all year. However Dean proved during his WWE Championship feud with Rollins that he’s capable of so much more.

Does Dean Ambrose need to be in the title picture all the time? No. But he definitely needs something fun to do. Now that Roman’s feud with The Wyatt Family is over and he no longer needs Ambrose’s help to take them out, Roman is moving on to the title picture and Ambrose is moving on to, well, nothing.

Sure WWE could turn him heel and then have him feud with Roman Reigns, but what happens to Dean Ambrose when that feud is over? He’ll likely end up right back in the same boat he’s in now. WWE doesn’t need to turn Ambrose heel, but they definitely need to make a plan for him.

#1 – A Feud With Roman Reigns Won’t Benefit Either Guy

One of the biggest reasons fans seem to be clamoring for Dean Ambrose to turn heel is so that they can see him feud with Roman Reigns. For most of 2015 Ambrose has been paired with Reigns and there’s no doubt that the pairing has helped to get Reigns more over with the fans. But putting these two against each other could do more harm than good for Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose as well.

Although more fans seem to be joining The Roman Empire every single day, there’s still a good portion of the fans that aren’t on board with Roman Reigns. Putting a heel Dean Ambrose against a face Roman Reigns could backfire big time as far as crowd reactions are concerned.

It doesn’t matter who WWE thinks the fans should cheer or boo, the fans do what they want regardless. Putting someone they actually want to cheer for such as Dean Ambrose against Roman Reigns would likely cause Dean to get cheered and Roman to get booed. In the end Roman doesn’t win the crowd over, and Ambrose doesn’t get the heel heat he’s looking for. The feud look good on paper and there’s no doubt that both guys could deliver some entertaining TV. But the crowd reactions might actually set both guys back.

What do you guys think, do you want to see Dean Ambrose turn heel?

  1. Send Dean after Owens for the IC title and give it to him, start another rivalry like he had with Seth. Anything but turn him heel!

  2. There have been a few Ambrose/Regins;heel/face pieces floating around the web, this is one of the better ones. Good, succinct read. Really, it’s the first GIF is what won me over.
