There are a lot of promotions in pro-wrestling, WWE being the biggest today. There are other promotions like New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor and other relatively less known promotions.

Back in the day, WCW was WWE’s biggest competitor and a lot of wrestlers from the aforementioned promotions have made their way to WWE and fought at various promotions along the way.  It is thus, quite plausible that some of the biggest wrestlers today have faced each other in past.

Sorry to burst your bubble, pro-wrestling fans, but these “dream matches” have already happened.

Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) vs AJ Styles

Seth Rollins shocked the world when he made his comeback at Extreme Rules and pedigreed Roman Reigns right in the middle of the ring. It was very unfortunate that Seth Rollins got injured before AJ Styles made his WWE debut, as a feud or even a match even the two would have been a treat to watch. But, now that Rollins is back, a match or a feud between them is inevitable and it’s going to happen sooner or later.

The two faced each other at a National Wrestling Alliance No Limits show 10 years ago on April 28th.  AJ Styles, had already built quite a reputation for himself and Tyler Black showed a lot of promise and it’s not a big surprise that the two are some of the biggest names in WWE today. Needless to say, the match was a treat to watch.

Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose vs Leakee (Roman Reigns)

This is a match that a lot of fans will always clamor for in the WWE, but the former SHIELD brethren have faced each other before. It was in 2012, in a Florida Championship Wrestling ring, which was WWE’s developmental territory.  It was a triple-threat match to determine the number one contender for the FCW Heavyweight Championship (which, by the way was held by Adam Rose, billed as Leo Kruger back then), who finds himself relieved of duties. How things change. The trio produced a great match and exhibited really good chemistry.

This match will likely happen again and you can surely rule out a SHIELD reunion for quite a while. Roman Reigns is currently feuding with Seth Rollins and if you throw Dean Ambrose into the mix, and you’ll have one heck of a match.

AJ Styles vs CM Punk

Another match that would light up almost any arena. It’s no secret that AJ Styles and CM Punk have made their way up the indies and it’s no surprise that the two have already locked horns. The two are known for their Ring of Honor days and they faced each other in the Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Finals way back on 14th February, 2004.  I really don’t need to say how awesome this match was. The crowd was into this match the entire time.  The two were destined to be champions wherever they went.

It is quite unlikely that this match will happen again. In a WWE ring at least, given the manner of CM Punk’s departure from the company. But how awesome would it be to see the seasoned veterans wrestle again?

Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) vs Samoa Joe

The American Dragon, a master technician has faced the Samoan Submission Machine quite a few times back in their Ring of Honor days. Their very first encounter took place at Final Battle 2002, which was a fatal four way match. The other two wrestlers who competed in the match were Low-Ki and Steve Corino. This match ended in a 45 minute time limit draw. Since then, they have faced each other quite a few times and traded victories. Their last encounter took place at Fight of the Century, where ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson defended his title against the Samoan Submission Machine in a Steel Cage Match. This match ended in a 60 minute time limit draw.

Daniel Bryan’s retirement was sad for the entire WWE Universe. Daniel Bryan became one of the biggest WWE wrestlers ever and Samoa Joe is currently in NXT. Another match which is very unlikely to happen. Their Ring of Honor matches were brilliant and were just a prelude to what they were going to become in the future.

The Undertaker vs Sting

Shocked? So was I. This match has already happened. Although, at the time, Mark Calaway was being billed as Mean Mark Callous and the two men faced each other in a NWA ring. The story behind this match is that, the man who would go on be known as The Icon was the NWA Champion and was scheduled to face Barry Windham, but for some reason, Mean Mark Callous was replaced with Barry in this match. Very little is known about this match, which happened way back on September 1st, 1990. Apparently, this match was not taped. Those who know about this match claim that it sucked.

Now that Sting has retired and the Undertaker’s not getting any younger. It is unlikely that the two will face off in a ring again.
