Samoa Joe announced just a few days ago that he’s parted ways with TNA so naturally there’s a lot of talk going around about him possibly coming to WWE. Rumor has it that Triple H is interested in giving Joe a tryout for NXT but we will just have to wait and see how that plays out.
There are a whole lot of amazing potential matches that Samoa Joe could have in WWE/NXT and we could spend all day naming every single one of them. Instead we restrained ourselves and narrowed the list down to 5 matches we think would tear the house down. Here are our picks.
#5 – Rusev
This match would be one of those brutal car wrecks that you just wouldn’t be able to look away from. If these powerhouses got put on a collision course who wouldn’t want to see it? Joe’s style is a lot more dynamic than Rusev’s but they have a similar look, they’re both big men and they would absolutely tear each other apart. Samoa Joe is definitely one man that would put Rusev’s undefeated streak in jeopardy.
#4 – Hideo Itami

These two have crossed paths before both in Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling NOAH so it’s pretty much a no brainer to have them face off in NXT. Samoa Joe and Hideo Itami have already proved themselves just about everywhere in the world with the exception of the WWE. Itami is currently proving himself in NXT and Joe would be doing the same thing if he does end up making his way to the company. There’s little doubt that these guys would pull out all the stops to impress the fans and it’s a match we would be talking about for quite a while after it’s over.
#3 – Daniel Bryan

Not only would the action in this match be superb but it has a great story naturally built into it the same way that Daniel Bryan’s WWE matches with CM Punk did. Here you would have two guys that crossed paths back in the day facing off in the world’s most famous wrestling promotion. Who wouldn’t want to see it?
Daniel Bryan has been on top of his game these past few years and the same can be said about Samoa Joe. Give these guys 15 to 20 minutes on a WWE pay-per-view and then just sit back and watch them steal the show.
#2 – Brock Lesnar
There aren’t too many people on this planet that look like they would be a legitimate threat to Brock Lesnar, but Samoa Joe is one of them. It would be a lot of fun to see Brock face off against someone who challenges his dominance in the ring and that’s something Samoa Joe is definitely capable of. The chances of this match happening aren’t very good but we can dream can’t we?
#1 – Kevin Owens
We’ve seen you guys talking about it and we’re talking about it too. Samoa Joe vs Kevin Owens is the number 1 dream match on just about everyone’s list at the moment. These two are so evenly matched that this bout would be an instant classic before it ever happens. Like several other wrestlers on this list, Joe crossed paths with Owens back in the day but they certainly weren’t the established names they are now.
The action would be top notch and the storyline pretty much writes itself. These men are constantly being compared to one another and they’ve been on similar paths their whole careers, but if Joe makes it to NXT the parallels would be undeniable. When it comes to a possible match featuring Samoa Joe vs Kevin Owens, you can shut up and take our money.
